Marketing Premier’s unique operation is characterized by our high technology controlled environments which allow us to grow superior natural and organic products on U.S. soil that exceed foreign competition in quality, freshness, and availability. Demand for Tilapia is such that there are buyers for all the fish Premier can produce. Tilapia is now the 4th most popular fish consumed in the U.S. In 2003, Tilapia became the eight most popular seafood in the U.S. In 2004, it became the sixth most popular seafood in the U.S. and sales climbed to $1.17 billion. Sales are expected to reach $5 billion by 2010 in the U.S. Premier has a distinct advantage in the market by producing premium natural and organic products with lower overhead than conventional organic farms due to our ability to scientifically manage the farms remotely with automated technology. Organic products typically sell for 20 to 30% higher prices than conventionally produced goods. The price premium results from consumers’ willingness to pay more for safe organic food. U.S. organic food retail sales reached an estimated $10.3 billion in 2003, up from $3.5 billion in 1997 according to retail sales estimates from the Nutrition Business Journal. Currently, fresh Tilapia is imported mainly from Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Honduras. China is the main supplier of frozen Tilapia. Demand for fresh Tilapia is expected to increase significantly (USDA – ERS Report) over frozen, for years to come. A recent study by the USDA-Environmental Research Service examined price premiums for organic lettuce mix. During 2000-04, the highest premiums (near 100 percent over conventional) were observed for organic produce, and premiums were higher at the wholesale level than at the farm-gate level. Premier will market its lettuce through the same market outlets as Tilapia. Organic Produce Our growing techniques integrate the latest controlled environment technology with organic farming techniques to produce the highest quality produce and herbs. Premier Organic recognizes consumer concern for safe food that meets U.S. government standards. According to government sources, less than 1% of imported food and dry goods are inspected by the FDA. |
Do you know that less than 1% of Imported Food is Inspected or Tested for Contaminants by the FDA?
